Who We Are

Legacy Private Schools opened its doors on the 26th of October 2020, beginning inside a single block that housed a nursery and a creche and was designed from the outset to receive children as young as six months and walk with them through every stage that would follow. It would go on to oversee Legacy Academy and Legacy College, extending its reach far beyond that first modest block.

On that first morning only two children walked through the doors, received by twelve members of staff who had been assembled to welcome them. To a casual observer the ratio might have looked like an act of faith bordering on the irrational, yet the people behind the school were not building for that single day. They were building for every day that would follow it, and that instinct has since been proven right in ways that speak for themselves.

Today, Legacy Private Schools is home to hundreds of students and a staff body grown to over seventy strong, running three sections across separate blocks. Early Years covers Pre Nursery through Reception, the Primary section runs from Year 1 to Year 5, and the College stretches from JSS 1 through SS3 with Science, Arts, and Languages departments united by one commitment to quality education. In five years, the school did not simply grow. It multiplied, moving from a single block for Nursery and Creche into Primary and Junior Secondary levels before the dream of a complete Senior Secondary programme became real.

The 2024/2025 academic session marked a turning point for the institution, with Legacy College presenting its first set of SS3 graduates. That milestone was made richer still by the school's formal registration with the West African Examinations Council and the debut of its WAEC candidates in the same year. The school now holds affiliations with Cambridge Assessment International Education, the National Examinations Council, and the Educational Resource Centre, giving families a credible and diverse range of examination pathways.

Since the 2023/2024 academic session, the school's external examination preparation programme known as Rangers has recorded over seventy percent A grades in WAEC and NECO every year, while JAMB candidates under the same programme have achieved scores above 240 year after year.

At the start of the 2025/2026 academic session, the school opened a boarding facility for male and female students, built with quiet study spaces, supervised care, and room to grow. It stands as the natural extension of what the school set out to do from the beginning, an environment complete enough that a child never has to look elsewhere.

Daily life at the school runs alongside a broad curriculum across all sections, enriched by specialist offerings in Music and Diction. Outside regular lessons, the calendar includes workshops and training in Sports, Coding, Science exhibitions, Culinary Arts, and Creative events, each designed to catch a child's interest before the child even knows they are interested. Once the school day ends, clubs in Karate and Taekwondo, Male and Female Football, Homemakers, Music, and Chess bring students together around shared passions, and a Summer School programme extends the year with classes built to sharpen soft and hard skills during the long break.

The three sections of the school each wear a distinctive uniform, purple and white plaid for the youngest pupils, burgundy blazers with striped ties for College students, and sportswear or casual purple tops with jeans on certain days, an overall effect that carries a quiet dignity reflecting the school's culture.

Behind all of this sits a governance structure built for the long term. Legacy Private Schools is privately funded and sustained by a Board of Directors chaired by Mr Ola Olanipekun (SAN), working alongside a School Management Council made up of a Principal, Vice Principal, Head of Administration, Head of Early Years, Head of Basic Schools, Heads of Departments, Head of Boarding House, School Examination Officer, Accountant, Auditor, and School Procurement Officer. At the head of daily school life stands the Principal, Deacon Ademola Emmanuel Olujoyimbo, whose leadership continues to guide the institution through each stage of its expansion.

In five years, a creche and a nursery grew into a full boarding school with Cambridge affiliations, a boarding house, graduating classes, and exam results that few institutions of any age can match, its students shaped along the way by music, sport, coding, STEM, and the creative arts. None of that growth happened by accident. It came from a founding conviction, sustained and deepened by everyone who joined the mission.

Reflecting on the journey, founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Ola Olanipekun (SAN), recalls the vision that shaped the institution from its start:

"When we chose the name Legacy, we were making a statement about what we intended to leave behind. Not wealth. Not status. Not buildings. Education is the best legacy, and every decision we have made has flowed from that belief."

The school's motto states it plainly and without apology: "Education is the best Legacy." In a world that argues endlessly about what to leave behind, Legacy Private Schools has already decided. They leave knowledge. They leave confidence. They leave character. And they have been leaving it, one child at a time, since the 26th of October 2020.
